Pillow Talk -- The Memory Foam Way

ergonomic, contoured pillowsLife without pillows is like shoes without soles. If you think about it a shoe’s sole is sort of a pillow for the foot. And when you get a pair of shoes that are really comfortable with just the right amount of cushion, you’re floating.  On the other end of things, sleeping on just the right pillow is heavenly.

You can imagine how pillows started:  a bunch of grass or an animal skin, or maybe just a forearm.  Then a bag stuffed with straw or barley shucks or feathers or rags. Now we have memory foam contour pillows that cradle the neck and head without lifting and causing strain. They’re ergonomic! They conform to your shape rather than you conforming to theirs which can cause aches and pains to develop. The contour of memory foam pillows is designed for optimum support of the natural curve of the spine so that you wake up without aches and pains in the neck and back.

Memory foam pillows, or as they are sometimes referred to, temperpedic pillows, can be strange looking.  Sometimes that high-tech look just doesn’t appear as comfortable as a regular pillow. But once you sleep on it for a night or two you get used to not only its look, but its comforting caressing feel.  Most people really enjoy the comfort contour memory foam pillows offer. The contoured shape of the contoured pillow adds to the therapeutic support, and the relief from neck and back problems brings the bliss.

What kind of temperpedic pillow should you sleep on? If you sleep on your back, use a medium firm pillow.  If you sleep on your side use a firm pillow to keep your head aligned with your spine.  If you sleep on your stomach (something doctors do not recommend because it can cause neck and back problems) use a soft pillow. Contoured pillows can also be flipped with the contour down for stomach sleepers. The arms fit comfortably into the contour to support the head.

Is a memory foam pillow for you?  There’s really only one way to find out. Put a foam contour pillow to the sleep test.  And as always, we hope you have sweet dreams.
