The Perfect Bedroom for Sleep
|
Your bedroom should provide the ideal environment for sleep. It should be quiet and relaxing. Loud noise and too much light, a worn-out uncomfortable mattress, or a room that is too warm or too cold can prevent you from getting the quality sleep you need. There is no reason to settle for anything less than perfect sleep.
Turn your bedroom into a sleep haven with these four very important factors:
- Be sure your mattress and foundation meet your needs for comfort and support. If you sleep with a partner, make sure your mattress allows for enough space for both of you. (Try one of our fabulous memory foam mattress sets for the most comfortable sleep imaginable!)
- Light is one of the body’s most powerful cues. A dark room is the most conducive for sleep, day or night. Your brain will wake with the rising sun with or without an alarm clock. And at the same time, you will notice as night approaches, your body will tell you it is time for sleep. Be sure your bedroom is as dark as possible.
- Sudden, jarring and loud noises from inside or outside your home can disrupt sleep instantly. Consider the use of a white noise machine, a fan or air conditioner in your bedroom for soothing sleep -- they help block out distracting noises.
- The ideal bedroom temperature is 60 to 65 degrees Fahrenheit (16 to 18 degrees Celsius). A bedroom that is too hot or too cold can cause sleep disruptions or fitful sleeping.
