The Memory Foam Select bed is customizable with the option of either 3.3 inches of 3lb or 4lb memory foam and comes in a choice of two overall profile heights: either 8" or 10".	The Tempur Pedic Original Bed comes in a density of 5lbs without the option to choose a different density that suits your comfort requirements.
Our entry level Memory Foam Select Mattress is composed of 3 layers of foam. First is the 3.3 inch memory foam layer, second is a 2 inch layer of High Resiliency Convoluted foam, third is a 2.8 inch layer of High Resiliency Ultra Cell Base foam for a total a little over 8 inches. Three layers offer greater depth of comfort as opposed to only 2 layers and in addition these three layers can be interchanged in order to vary your individual comfort level.	In this Tempur-pedic Review you will find that the Tempur Pedic Original Mattress, which is Tempur-Pedic's entry level memory foam mattress, is constructed of only 2 layers; first a layer of 5lb Tempur® memory foam material and then a conventional foam base equaling a total profile of 8 inches. These two layers are not interchangeable.
n a review of Tempur pedic we always like to compare their 5lb foam to our 3lb and 4lb foam. We have found that 3lb and 4lb memory foam has just the right softness. The 3lb and the 4lb memory foam is neither too firm or too soft. 3 lb and 4 lb memory foam recovers quickly. This means as you move from position to position the foam moves with you. You feel like you are floating on air. The foam does not retain the "memory" of the old position for too long of a time period.	The memory foam layer in the Tempur Pedic Original Bed is composed of 5 lb memory foam. The complaint often heard about this bed is that it is too firm. This is because 5lb memory foam tends to feel too stiff.
