| Now this is what really counts: We use a 4 lb density foam. This has two advantages. It is firm but has some give to it. The other advantage is that the 4 lb density foam has a faster recovery time. When you move from position to position the foam moves with you so you feel you are floating on top of the bed. This density of lighter foam is the key. The foam quickly recovers from the old position as you move into the new position. The comment many people make about our Perfect Comfort Mattress Sleep System is that they feel they are floating on top of the mattress. |
Temperpedic uses a 5 lb density foam. Many people feel that 5 lb density memory foam is too dense and therefore feels too firm without much "give". |
| In addition what's distinct about the Perfect Comfort's lighter dual layer memory foam system (and what makes it superior, in my book) are its two separate layers. Its top 3.3" layer is a softer, lighter 4 lb visco elastic foam which provides a fantastic "first contact" comfort zone that cradles every curve of your body. The second layer is 2" of 4 lb density of what is called "convoluted memory foam". The convoluted design is unique in that it gives great softness as well as excellent support. In addition it provides ventilation, fresh air circulation with every movement. |
In contrast, Tempurpedic's memory foam is also a two layer design, but the second layer is not convoluted. High quality, to be sure, but as I mentioned earlier, some people (myself included) find it too firm. Perfect Comfort's dual layers offer a softer, cozier feel with plenty of support underneath. |
